• Brake Caliper Rebuild

I've had to rebuild my calipers a few times now after frying them at the track (darn Cosworth) so I thought I'd make a video to show how to do it.

BTW, a new caliper was $400ish last time I checked and a rebuild kit for 2 calipers is $15ish.

I used pn B2YD-33-26Z FROM Mazda Motorsports Dev.

Hope this video save some hassle and bucks.

      Nice Adam,

I recently put RX8 calipers in the rear and they were like $400 as well, I bought some used ones and changed the seals.

That is exactly how I changed the dust seals. I don't remember where but I found the information on the web. plus the RX-8 caliper pistons are screwed in so I had to buy the caliper tool. I didn't want to risk messing them up by using needle pliers and such.

      Thanks Adam,
As with your pulley swap video, this should make life MUCH easier (and save quite a few $!)

Awesome video, I really appreciate you taking the time to make it and spread the knowledge. I have some "Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube" I was planning to lube my caliper slide pins (bolts?) with, but you mentioned brake fluid seemed to work better when lubricating the piston. Would brake fluid be a good choice for the slide pins as well as the piston or would it wear off pretty quickly?

Brake fluid is right for the pistons because that's what they'll be immersed in afterwards. It's not the right choice for pins, where it will drip off and ruin paint elsewhere. Any decent high-temp grease that stays put is much better.
